When I moved from India to Australia in 2009, the Indian sweets available had been shipped over on containers. They arrived stale, loaded with preservatives, and stripped of the freshness we grew up with.
I knew we deserved better, so I started cooking. What began making fresh food for my friends and quickly grew into catering for local temples, community events and Indian festivals. The feedback was always the same: “This tastes so amazing!”
That love and support from our Melbourne community and a realisation that we could surpass the heavily marketed shops relying on frozen products and excess sugar is what gave birth to Pavitre.
The Obsession: Bombay Ice Halwa & Fulvadi
Pavitre is defined by our dedication and an absolute refusal to use any ultra-processed ingredients.
Our signature Bombay Ice Halwa, an incredibly delicate, paper-thin sheet that instantly melts in your mouth, took thousands of tries to perfect. Today, we are proud to be the only shop handcrafting it in Australia.
For savory lovers, our authentic Fulvadi has become a legendary staple.

In Sanskrit, Pavitre means Pure.
It’s the exact philosophy we operate on out of our kitchen. The market is flooded with overpriced sweets relying on flashy packaging to mask inferior ingredients or too much sugar. At Pavitre, we flip that model.
